Camping II: The Wilderness

It's been a whole year since I last went camping. This year sucked because the blow up mattress kept deflating, so I basically had to sleep on solid rock for 3 nights. But the majestic beauty of nature made up for it, I guess. Also, when we went on hikes, there was the threat of a bear or a cougar attack, so it made it really thrilling. Fortunately the only thing we got attacked by were mosquitoes. Glad to be back home to shower.

Oh, the things I do with my time...

Here's another installment of stuff I do to keep busy these days. The first is a Ren & Stimpy iron on I made today (japanese edition), some wacky black and white doodle-city, and then a few large paintings. Some might call it "real art", I just think its more like an excuse to make a mess. I went for a swim in a pool, and ate dinner too.

Summer is so great!

Yay! Summer is finally here in Vancouver and I just got a new sketchbook. Can't wait to fill it up with all the great summer stuff I get to do, like house sit for family, water plants and feed kitties while they go away on vacation. But actually, I've relived that oh so glorious childhood summer feeling of doing absolutely nothing and being totally & utterly bored. Ah, the memories. But I have still have 2 and a half months to do fun stuff too, and eat ice cream that looks as delicious as this one.

P.S.: Brad Neely rocks so hard!

England II

It was definitely a task to cram sightseeing England into 2 weeks, but I kept a journal of all the things I did, and the people I met. I miss it already, and can't wait to go back again someday. I still have a couple train lines I didn't get to ride on the underground, bands to see and pubs to go to. Traveling rocks!

England

Haven't created much artwork lately, sometimes I just need to take a vacation from creating things.  I did find this childhood drawing however, and I am taking an actual vacation to the UK. Seems like I had dreamt of going to see Big Ben in England a long time ago.  I like how the moon looks like a banana and the sidewalk ends at a tree.  London, yeah!!

TV made me do it

There are two people in this world. Those who watch tv and those who don't. There's this smugness about the latter category though, that can be likened to the debate between omnivores and vegetarians.

I think comedian Jim Gaffigan hit this weird attitude right on the money:
person 1:"I haven't eaten meat in 4 years!"
person 2:"Well, I haven't eaten a banana in 3 months, but you don't see me bragging about it." Anyway, non-tv watchers are like the vegetarians. People who revel in their sacrifices.

It's a two-edged sword. Too much tv makes you lazy, apethetic, and an irritating pop-culture parrot, whereas finding other stuff to fill your time can make you smug and pompous, and perhaps make you do things you'd rather not admit to doing (like making crocheted sea-creatures).
